In a previous post, we discussed the differences between how electrical power is delivered to outlets in North America versus the rest of the world. In case you missed it, much of the rest of the world operates on an average of 230 volts while the United States, Canada, and Mexico have outlets which supply 120 volts. To use an electrical device designed for overseas markets in North America you’ll need a voltage converter, like one of our Quick 220® systems, and a 230 volt plug adapter. The plug adapter changes the shape of the plug so that a foreign plug configuration will match the North American style of 220-240 volt outlet that is on the Quick 220® voltage converters.

If you’ve recently moved to the United States, you may have brought a few of your old appliances or electrical devices with you. The great thing about the combination of our Quick 220® voltage converters with the 230 volt plug adapters is that it’s much more convenient than calling an electrician and having a special foreign outlet installed. One that probably isn’t even legal for building code in this country! And it doesn’t matter what market your device originated from, our 230 plug adapters are universal and will accept plugs from all over the world and convert them to a standard NEMA 6-15 plug. We even offer Shuko grounding adapters for German-market plugs.

The best part of using a Quick 220® voltage converter with our 230 volt plug adapters is that there is no bulky box taking up space. Even with the added 230 volt plug adapters, the Quick 220® voltage converters are small, portable, and light weight. Each unit measures in at 6.5in x 5in x 3in and weighs less than 4 pounds so it can be tucked out of the way near the device you are powering or packed up and taken with you wherever you go.

Our Quick 220® systems are even convenient to order. We offer full converter packages that include two 230 volt plug adapters (with or without Shuko adapters) with the unit. And if you have a multi-voltage device and don’t need a Quick 220® voltage adapter at all, you can order the 230 volt plug adapters separately, too!
